Pegida chief Bachmann denies everything

dresden - Lutz Bachmann, leader of the anti-Islam movement Pegida, Tuesday on the first day of the trial against him in court in Dresden, through his lawyer rejected all charges. Justice accuses the 43-year-old among other sedition.

According to the public prosecutor Bachmann made derogatory comments on Facebook in September 2014 on refugees and incited hatred against them. It involved taunts as' beasts', 'waste' and 'filthy mess. '

Bachmann came to court wearing glasses with a black bar 'on it, to symbolize that he is treated as a criminal. Pegida sympathizers cheered him to the courthouse and called on banners to 'Acquittal for Lutz Bachmann. Against Protesters, however, shouted slogans like 'Bachmann to jail.'

If convicted, he could receive a fine or imprisonment for up to five years.

,, It looks good, '' he said upon leaving the court after about four hours. The process goes on May 3 further.
