Papal Lamborghini under the hammer

amsterdam - Pope Francis is going to sell his Lamborghi. The luxury car, a white Huracan with almost 600 horsepower, will be auctioned at Sotheby's in Monaco on May 12th.
The car that goes under the hammer is, even for a Lamborghini, a very special one. Not only does the 'papal sports car' reach a speed of 300 kilometers per hour, it has also been blessed by the church prince. The Argentinian Pope received the car in November.
The proceeds of the auction, estimated between € 250. 000 € 300. 000, does not go into the papal treasury. Francis donates the amount to the charity, and in particular to the reconstruction of the Iraqi city of Nineveh.
The 81-year-old head of the Roman Catholic Church is not a fan of fast motor vehicles anyway. When he received a motorcycle from Harley-Davidson as a gift, he also offered it at an auction.
