- There is panic erupted Sunday night on the Place de la Republique. There, hundreds of people had gathered to commemorate the attacks in Paris last Friday.
The police cleared the square in a hurry. However, it soon proved to be false alarms. Someone had some firecrackers chipped, police said.
In side streets from Place de la Republique are traces of the massive panic still visible: all bars and restaurants are closed. Here and there an employee cleans the glass. Terrace goers have dropped out of their hands.
The restaurant at L'autre Cote tells a collaborator with trembling voice what she saw: "Hundreds of people were screaming this way race A woman was overflowing, some emerged in our case we have the shutters closed immediately..." The case remains closed. "We dare not open tonight. I drink a drink, we have to stay strong," she says with a clenched fist.
