nigeria - The death toll in Nigeria rises above 150 as two bridges disappear in floods caused by heavy rainfall, displacing thousands and destroying homes.

Devastating Flooding in Nigeria Claims Over 150 Lives

The death toll in Nigeria has exceeded 150 following severe flooding triggered by heavy rainfall, with the Niger River overflowing its banks and causing widespread destruction.

Impact of the Floods

More than 250 houses have been washed away, leaving over 3000 people displaced. Two bridges were also swept away by the raging waters, rendering many roads in and around Mokwa impassable.

Search and Rescue Efforts

Authorities fear that the number of casualties will continue to rise as many individuals remain missing. Nevertheless, the ongoing rescue operation is reportedly progressing well, with adequate relief supplies and temporary shelters being provided to the affected area.
