moscow - Russian opposition leader Aleksej Navalny was released from prison on Sunday morning. Navalny was detained for twenty days because he had called for protests against the plans of the Russian government to raise the retirement age.

Navalny, a fierce critic of President Vladimir Putin, was arrested on 24 September when he was released from prison where he had served a 30-day sentence for attending a demonstration prohibited by the authorities in January this year.
