harare - The prominent Zimbabwean activist Evan Mawarire has been declared guilty of an attempt to overthrow the government. Mawarire was a staunch opponent of President Robert Mugabe, who has resigned his job against the activist.
The pastor is very popular in Zimbabwe, thanks to social media. He had been accused of overthrowing Mugabe (93). There is a maximum of twenty years in prison. His lawyer had argued that his client only used the right to free expression with his famous video messages.
Mugabe finally stepped up after a lot of pressure last week and since then Emmerson Mnangagwa has been the president.
