Only children can leave a rescue ship at Catania

rome - Italy only wants to include the children on board the Italian coast guard ship that has been in Catania with 177 refugees since Monday. That is what the Minister of Home Affairs Matteo Salvini said on a Facebook video on Wednesday evening. The other of the 177 migrants are not allowed to leave the ship. According to aid organizations, there are about thirty minors on the ship.

The ship has been in the Sicilian city of Catania since Monday evening. The ship took the migrants from the sea last week. Rome actually felt that Malta was responsible for the migrants, but the government of that island state refused to include the group.

Salvini has indicated that it wants to return the migrants to Libya if they are not distributed across the EU. The politician of anti-immigration party Lega thinks that his country has already received enough asylum seekers and refugees.
