Oldest person (116) dies in southern Japan

osaka - The oldest person in the world according to Guinness World Records has died at the age of 116 in southern Japan.
Tomiko Itooka, born in 1908 in Osaka, passed away in a nursing home in Ashiya, west of Osaka.
Mayor Ryosuke Takashima of Ashiya lauded Itooka as a woman who brought courage and hope, expressing his condolences to the family. Japan's population is rapidly aging with over 95,000 Japanese citizens aged over 99 years.
