munich - The Oktoberfest in Munich attracted an estimated 6.7 million visitors this year, who consumed about 7 million liters of beer. This year's festival was deemed 'particularly relaxed' by the festival director Clemens Baumgärtner.

According to initial estimates, Oktoberfest this year drew around 6.7 million visitors, fewer than the approximately 7.2 million last year. The festival in Munich unfolded this year in a 'particularly relaxed' manner, said festival director Clemens Baumgärtner on the last day of Oktoberfest.

It is estimated that approximately 7 million liters of beer were served this year. The organization reported fewer crimes this year and the medical services had to treat fewer visitors. As in previous years, there were also many visitors from abroad, including the Netherlands. The majority of revelers traditionally wore lederhosen and dirndls.

This year, visitors faced additional security measures following a deadly attack in Solingen. The entrance checks were stricter than before, with glass bottles and large bags not being allowed on the premises. According to the police, the Wiesn, as the festival is locally known, proceeded peacefully and safely this year. The number of crimes decreased by about 25 percent.
