Nottingham Forest Secures £30m Transfer for James McAtee

Nottingham Forest has finalized an agreement with Manchester City to sign James McAtee for a deal totaling £30 million, with additional clauses included. McAtee, the 22-year-old England under-21 international, aims to secure more playing time at the City Ground.

McAtee's Background and Career

McAtee, who scored seven goals in 27 matches for City last season, expressed his desire to depart Etihad Stadium to seek regular first-team football opportunities. He chose to skip traveling with Pep Guardiola's squad for the FIFA Club World Cup to represent England at the Under-21 European Championship.

The young talent, having progressed through City's academy and amassed 34 senior appearances, had successful loan stints at Sheffield United, notably during the 2023-24 season, where he featured in 30 Premier League games.

Recent City Departures

McAtee's imminent move follows Jack Grealish's loan agreement with Everton, marking the second significant departure from the Etihad this week. Nottingham Forest looks forward to integrating McAtee into their squad as they bolster their ranks for the upcoming season.
