brussels - No country in North Africa yet shows willingness or interest to accommodate migrants picked up from the Mediterranean. 'Not yet', EU Commissioner Dimitris Avramopoulos (Migration) said on Thursday about the plan that EU leaders want to work out.

The idea is to separate economic migrants and refugees on 'disembarkation platforms' outside the EU, for example in Tunisia. This is not going to be Guantanamo Bay, but a safe place from which UN organizations IOM and UNHCR can transfer people entitled to protection to Europe, according to Avramopoulos. According to him, a 'worthy return' is arranged for economic migrants.

The European Commission is organizing a mini-summit on Sunday with the leaders of at least ten EU countries to find solutions to the migration issue. Prime Minister Rutte is also, 'Together we can move mountains', Avramopoulos said.
