Nobeltip: all the inhabitants of the Greek islands

oslo - With the closing of the Monday deadline by which candidates for the Nobel Peace Prize can be submitted, circulated in the media, as usual, quite a few names. Frequently mentioned are the inhabitants of the Greek islands that accommodate Syrian refugees.

The names of the peace negotiators of the government and the rebel group FARC in Colombia and those of Edward Snowden, the former CIA and NSA employee who spread secret documents about US spy activities are mentioned. Recognised 'Nobel Watchers came with the negotiators on Iran's nuclear program as a candidate to come. The latter suggestion is given real after the prize was awarded in 2015 to the Quartet for National Dialogue in Tunisia.

The Dutch Nijmeijer as interpreter and negotiator involved in the FARC delegation. She has been indicted in the US for terrorism.

Kristian Berg Harpvikende, the influential head of the Norwegian Institute for Peace Research, Snowden has at the top of its list of contenders.,, Not because he leaked documents, but because the documents have effect. Snowden could be awarded the prize, then that is considered hefty defeat for President Obama.

For now, Snowden in expanded company. Last year the Nobel committee received the names of no less than 273 candidates. These suggestions can be done, for example by national parliaments, former Nobel laureates and rectors of universities.
