Nobel Prize Academy approves four dismissals

stockholm - The Swedish Academy is hit by a crisis and has four new members for the Nobel Prize for Literature jury, now that the Board has approved the resignation of four members. The members Lotta Lotass, Klas Östergren, Sara Stridsberg and Kerstin Ekman have now officially resigned.

The resignation was made possible through the intervention of the Swedish king Carl Gustaf, who supplemented the age-old statutes of the academy with dismissal law. Previously, the places were assigned for life and they could only be occupied after the death of a member, regardless of whether the member was still actively involved or not.
