new york - A cartoon in an Australian newspaper with a stamping Serena Williams has led to divided reactions.

According to critics, the print of an angry tennis player at the US Open is racist and sexist. The Herald Sun is furious about this accusation.

In the drawing, Williams is portrayed as an angry toddler who demolishes her racket. In the background, the referee asks co-star Naomi Osaka if she can 'please let Williams win'.

Serena Williams lost the final last weekend. During the match she got a tantrum. She got a penalty after she called the umpire 'a thief'. She also received a game as a punishment.

The cartoon in the Sun attracted quite a few angry reactions. Writer J. K. Rowling writes on Twitter: 'Good to reduce one of the biggest sportswomen on earth to racist and sexist symbols'.
