new york - A high school in New York is permitting students to stay home on the day of the US presidential election results if they are experiencing emotional stress.

A high school in New York is allowing students to stay at home on the day of the US presidential election results if they are experiencing too much emotional stress. The director of the private school Ethical Culture Fieldston, Stacey Bobo, shared this decision in an email to the parents of the children.

Stacey Bobo stated, 'We understand that this can be an emotional time and a lot is at stake for our community. Regardless of the election outcome, we will support the students.'

Students who are 'unable to focus their full attention' are not required to be present at school on the day of the election. The email also mentioned that no homework will be assigned on the election day, November 5.

The parents have had varied reactions to the director's decision. John Couchman, a father of two students at the school, supports it, saying, 'I think this is absolutely the right choice. These students are very smart. Their future is at stake and they know it well.'

However, American comedian Jerry Seinfeld, whose two sons attended Ethical Culture Fieldston in the past, disagrees with decisions like this and claims that his children now attend a different school. He criticizes the school board, questioning their approach to handling young people. 'What kind of lives have these people led to think that this is the right way to deal with young individuals? They receive a hefty sum of money but teach children to succumb under pressure.'
