brussels - A new shooting incident near Anderlecht's Clemenceau metro station resulted in one person critically wounded and hospitalized.

Shooting Incident Near Anderlecht Metro Station

A new shooting took place near Anderlecht's Clemenceau metro station, leaving one person critically injured. The victim, believed to be Ukrainian, sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

The police found five bullet casings at the scene and a witness reported seeing an armed man getting out of a Citroën car, which was also used for the escape. The Brussels prosecutor mentioned three shooting incidents within 24 hours, with two in Anderlecht and one in Sint-Joost-ten-Node.

Despite the incident, metro operations remain unaffected, although one entrance to the station has been closed. The Brussels prosecutor's office, along with federal police forensic and ballistic experts, are investigating the scene.

This recent shooting comes less than 24 hours after another incident where two gunmen fired at a third person near Clemenceau metro station and fled through the metro tunnels, leading to closures and disruptions in the metro and tram services.

Prior to these events, another shooting occurred in Sint-Joost-ten-Node, adding to the ongoing violence in the area related to drug trafficking and gang conflicts. Local residents have been calling for measures to address the escalating situation.
