kuala lumpur - Ships begin a new search in the Indian Ocean for the Malaysia Airlines plane that went missing almost eleven years ago.

New Search Operation Commences

Ships have started a new search in the Indian Ocean for the Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, which disappeared almost eleven years ago. The Boeing 777 was carrying 227 passengers and twelve crew members. Despite previous search efforts, both for the aircraft wreckage and the occupants, no conclusive results were achieved. Earlier search operations involved the Dutch company Fugro. Although some aircraft debris has washed up on beaches in Africa and islands in the Indian Ocean, the majority of the plane remains unaccounted for.

Malaysian Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced on Tuesday that ships from Ocean Infinity have set sail. The Malaysian government is still negotiating the specific terms with the company. It was revealed in late December that Ocean Infinity will only be compensated upon successful discovery, with a reported amount of 70 million dollars (around 67 million euros).
