- The brand name Nokia returns to smartphones in 2017. The company has confirmed in a presentation, the website Nokia Power User discovered.
The Nokia brand name disappeared from the phone market when the company was sold to Microsoft and the Americans only wanted to continue to use the name Lumia. Earlier this year bought by former Nokia employees founded the business unit Global HMD Nokia feauturephones made by Microsoft. That did it with Foxconn subsidiary FIH Mobile. HMD Global also acquired a license on the Nokia name.
When and with what devices Nokia enters the smartphone market is not yet clear. According to Nokia Power User, the company would like to present all new phones at Mobile World Congress in February.
