bulgaria - After 7 rounds of general elections, a new coalition government has been formed in Bulgaria, putting an end to months-long political crisis.

In Bulgaria, following 7 rounds of general elections, a new coalition government has been formed. This morning, during a session at the Bulgarian National Assembly, the new coalition government led by Prime Minister Rosen Jelyazkov was approved with the votes of 125 members of parliament. The political crisis that has been ongoing in Bulgaria for months finally came to an end. In this morning's session at the National Assembly, attended by 239 members of parliament, the new coalition government led by Prime Minister Rosen Jelyazkov was approved with 125 votes, while 114 members voted against.

Following the formation of the government, the new ministers in the cabinet were sworn in. The coalition government was formed through an agreement between the center-right party Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB), Bulgarian Socialist Party - United Left (BSP-United Left), There is such a People (ITN), and Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS).

The new cabinet consists of 19 ministers, with 11 ministers allocated to GERB, and 4 ministers each to BSP-United Left and ITN parties. DPS, which supports the government, is not represented in the cabinet.

Prime Minister Jelyazkov stated before the parliamentary vote that the government's priorities will be high-quality education and healthcare services. He also emphasized that the rule of law, sustainable financing, a balanced budget, and joining the Eurozone are among the government's other important tasks. Jelyazkov expressed, "Bulgaria needs a new government that will protect the social rights of its citizens because the country is in a political crisis, a crisis of confidence. Citizens and businesses need support due to serious difficulties and risks".

In the early elections held in October, the center-right party GERB won in Bulgaria, a Balkan country that went to the polls for the 7th time in the last 4 years due to the political crisis and failures to form a government.

In the poorest country in the European Union, Bulgaria, the political crisis started with anti-corruption protests against the coalition government led by GERB in 2021. During this process, the country went to the polls for general elections 7 times in 2021 in April, July, and November, in October 2022, in April 2023, and in June and October 2024.
