tel aviv - Israeli PM Netanyahu prioritizes defeating Hamas in Gaza over releasing hostages, citing a 'higher goal' in the conflict.

Netanyahu Prioritizes Gaza Victory Over Hostage Release

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has stated that achieving victory in Gaza over Hamas is more important than the release of hostages, emphasizing a 'higher goal' in the conflict.

Ultimate Goal of Defeating Enemies

Netanyahu affirmed that the ultimate objective is to triumph over their adversaries, despite the significance of the hostage release. This comes after 251 people were abducted during a deadly attack on Israel in October 2023, with 58 individuals still held captive in Gaza, according to Israeli authorities. The Israeli military reports that 34 of them have passed away.

Independence Day Celebration in Israel

Netanyahu made these remarks during an event commemorating Independence Day in Israel, marking the establishment of the state in 1948. Israeli media highlights a nearly twelvefold increase in the population since then, reaching almost 10.1 million residents.
