- Napoli's sporting director, Giovanni Manna, reveals why the club could not meet Alejandro Garnacho's financial demands from Manchester United in the January transfer window.

Napoli's Failed Deal for Alejandro Garnacho

Napoli's sporting director, Giovanni Manna, explained that the club's attempt to sign Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United fell through due to the player's high financial requests. Despite Napoli's interest in strengthening their attack, Garnacho's demands were beyond what the Italian club could accommodate.

Manna stated, 'We considered him even before Khvicha Kvaratskhelia's departure. We made a very important offer to United, coming close to their demands. However, Garnacho's financial expectations for leaving the Premier League in January were not feasible for us. Bringing in a player with significantly higher wages than the team average was deemed inappropriate and not in line with Napoli's current strategy.'

Adeyemi's Rejection and Okafor's Arrival

Manna also revealed that Borussia Dortmund's Karim Adeyemi rejected a move to Napoli despite a draft agreement. Adeyemi, a target for Premier League clubs, opted not to join Napoli at this time. On the transfer deadline day, Napoli secured Switzerland striker Noah Okafor on loan from AC Milan to bolster their squad.
