los angeles - Cryptic messages, conspiracy theories, and surrendered luggage add a bizarre twist to the missing person case of Hannah (30).

The wildest conspiracy theories were circulating about Hannah's disappearance - she was rumored to be brainwashed by a cult or blackmailed by African hackers. Hannah was supposed to travel from Hawaii to New York to visit an aunt, with a layover in Los Angeles. However, she never boarded the connecting flight. In the following days, she was seen on surveillance footage in a bookstore and at a subway station. Her family and friends received cryptic messages claiming she had been scammed and made online payments to two unknown individuals.

Speculation ran high about Hannah's whereabouts until U.S. authorities located her. According to them, Hannah had fled to Mexico to isolate herself from the world. The police have classified her as a 'voluntarily missing person'.

Through witness interviews, surveillance footage, and collaboration with local law enforcement, authorities are piecing together the events surrounding Hannah's disappearance. On November 8, she checked in her luggage for the New York-bound flight but never boarded. Three days later, she purchased a bus ticket at a subway station, destined for a border crossing the next day.

Last Sunday, police reviewed surveillance footage from a border crossing in Tijuana, 233 kilometers away from the airport, showing Hannah crossing the border on foot. Police have found no evidence of human trafficking or other crimes. The statement read, "Investigators noted that prior to leaving Maui, Hannah expressed a desire to disconnect from modern society."

As her disappearance is now deemed 'voluntary', the police will not continue the search in Mexico. Hannah's family has not yet responded to the latest developments, maintaining their belief in foul play.

Her family had traveled to the United States to aid in the search, but the ordeal became too much for her father. His body was discovered in a parking garage, suspected of suicide. "He died of a broken heart," said an aunt later. After her father's death, Hannah cut off all communication with her family, which her grieving loved ones find uncharacteristic of her. The question of why Hannah chose to vanish remains unanswered.
