The Munich Security Report 2025, based on surveys conducted in several countries, highlights the increasingly positive perception towards Turkey.

Countries with the Most Positive Shift in Perception:

  • Turkey
  • South Korea
  • Poland
  • United Kingdom

The majority of Western countries surveyed showed that the perception of Turkey as an ally has increased compared to those who see it as a threat.

Increasing Number of Allies for Turkey

According to the report, except for France, in all countries surveyed, the percentage of those who see Turkey as an ally was higher than those who see it as a threat.

The difference between those who consider Turkey as an ally and those who see it as a threat was 28 points in the UK and Japan, 26 points in China, 25 points in India, 19 points in South Africa, 14 points in the US and Canada, among others.

Positive Perception Trends

Turkey has seen a significant increase in the number of allies in Germany and the UK by 11 points, Italy by 9 points, France by 8 points, and Canada by 6 points compared to the previous survey.

Following South Korea, Turkey ranks as the second country where perceptions have significantly improved in the past year.

Increasing Perception of Israel as a Threat

There has been a rapid increase in the percentage of people who see Israel as a threat, with Italy leading with a 12-point increase, followed by France, the UK, Germany, and Japan.
