munich - A mother and her two-year-old daughter lost their lives in a car attack in Munich, which also left 39 others injured.

Tragic Incident in Munich

At least two people were killed in the car attack in Munich on Thursday, where 39 others were injured after a car plowed into a group of protesters. Among the injured were a 37-year-old woman and her 2-year-old daughter who were reported to be in critical condition.

A 24-year-old Afghan man has been arrested on suspicion of carrying out the attack, which authorities are treating as a terrorist act. The investigation has been taken over by a specialized federal prosecutor, as the suspect allegedly confessed to having a religious motive, pointing towards Islamic extremism.

The attack took place a day before a major security conference and just over a week before the German parliamentary elections, prompting politicians both from within the country and abroad to criticize the German migration policy. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz visited the site of the attack on Saturday, condemning the act and promising severe punishment for the perpetrator.
