'Most clever student' unrecognizable after a violent car accident

- The Russian Maria Lebedeva (23), once the most beautiful girl in the class, had a bright future ahead of her after her graduation. But her beauty and brains remained little when she got a car accident after a violent fight with her boyfriend.

The attorney-at-law was at the end of August 2016 with her angry friend in the car when he decided to ignore the red traffic light in their hometown Novosibirsk. The car crashed in the middle of a crossroads against another car. He was not injured thanks to an airbag, but Maria ended up in a coma.

When she woke up after three weeks, the diagnosis was not good; she had brain damage and was seriously injured on her back and pelvis. She had also become blind. The years 2015 and 2016 were erased from her memory, including the graduation party on which Maria- who was known as the most beautiful girl in the class- stole the show in a turquoise dress.

Nowadays she gets up with pain and goes to bed with pain. She walks with a stick. 'I can hear how people feel sorry for me, especially old females,' she tells Siberian Times. Maria misses independence in particular: 'I enjoyed traveling, loved dancing and running. I have just 'disappeared' for most people and now realize that I did not have many friends. I had a lot of acquaintances. '

Her friend came to visit her at the hospital in the beginning, but gave up. 'He was not ready for me and said: 'Do you really think that I am the only one to be guilty of this accident?' '

Maria still hopes to be able to get started as a flight attendant.
