Morawiecki new prime minister of Poland

warsaw - Mateusz Morawiecki is the intended new prime minister of Poland, a spokeswoman for government party Law and Justice (PiS) announced Thursday in Warsaw.

Morawiecki, who was Minister of Economic Development and Finance in the Cabinet and also Deputy Prime Minister, succeeds Beata Szydlo.

Szydlo has resigned to make room for Morawiecki, which according to the party is more suitable to shift the focus from political and legal reform to economic. She has been speculating about her imminent departure for some time.
