Liege A Belgian who was missing for one month was found in the basement of her doctor.

How 82-year-old Anne-Marie Bastin ended up there is still a mystery to the police. The court doctor has determined that she died a natural death.

The elderly left her apartment in Liege on 22 December and walked to the GP who keeps practice on the fourth floor. Probably she accidentally took the elevator to the cellar; went wandering there and eventually died. It is a mystery why the woman, who did not suffer from Alzheimer's, simply took the elevator up again.

The family has launched a major search in the past month. Daughter Catherine Rosman says in Het Nieuwsblad: 'My mother was a healthy woman. I myself would never have thought she could be in the doctor's cellar. Unfortunately, the police did not come up with that idea. '

Agents visited the doctor on January 10, but the cellar was not checked.
