Millions Scammed by 'Shaman' Fleeing After Alleged Curse Scam

An Austrian citizen known as Mariana M. and Amela was found with jewelry, gold, and cash worth over 10 million euros in Mödling, near Vienna. Her 29-year-old son has been arrested in Wiener Neustadt.

The alleged scammer targeted victims in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland, claiming that a family member was 'cursed' and demanding 730,000 euros for a fake 'cleansing ritual' to break the curse.

Police Chief Franz Popp of Lower Austria stated, 'In a world where many seek answers to life's essential questions, profiteers claiming supernatural powers take advantage of victims in emotional or financial distress seeking help and support.'

Victims can contact the Criminal Investigation Department of Lower Austria for assistance.
