Military exercise US and South Korea started

seoul - The armed forces of the United States and South Korea started Sunday's joint spring exercise. The starting time was postponed due to the Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang in February. This was done in order not to thwart the cautious rapprochement between North and South Korea.

The maneuver 'Foal Eagle' 2018, which lasts only a short month this year instead of usual eight weeks, again involved some 300,000 South Korean and 10,000 American military personnel. In April the command training 'Key Resolve' of both allies is also on the program.

On 27 April the planned meeting between Moon Jae-in and Kim Jong-un, the government leaders in Seoul and Pyongyang respectively. Both rulers talk to each other in the border town of Panmunjom about, for example, arms control on the Korean peninsula.
