amsterdam - There are the last six months 70 093 migrants arrived in Italy, as many as in the first six months of last year. According to figures from the UN refugee agency UNHCR. The number of people crossing was illegal did not survive risen to 2,896; considerably more than a year earlier in the same period.

Most people who make the crossing are from Eritrea (13%), Nigeria (12%) and Gambia (8%). European measures have no visible effect on the migratory flow. There is a mission 'to guard borders the' but for the time being the successes of naval vessels-including a Dutch frigates mainly from saving thousands of migrants.

In the Netherlands, we see relatively little of the Italy route. The Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND) has relatively few asylum applications by Africans.

In Greece affected the migration figures for the first half of this year by Turkey deal. The market for smugglers collapsed after the conclusion of the Balkan Borders and the start of the return of mainly economic migrants. Over the past two months, there were no more than two thousand people per month in the Greek islands.

The figures for the first half year are significantly higher (158 311) compared to the same period in 2015 (75 204). This is because the Turkey deal only went in April. Since then, the number of new asylum applications also declined dramatically in the Netherlands.
