Migrants dead in truck

benghazi - At least nineteen illegal migrants were killed on Wednesday by a road accident in the Libyan city of Bani Walid. Another 79 were injured, said a military source.

Among the dead are Somalis and Eritreans who were on their way in a truck, according to the source. He did not give further details.

Bani Walid, south of Tripoli, is a hub for smugglers to bring migrants from Libya's neighbors south of the Sahara to the coast. There they are shipped to Italy with boats.
