niamey - A group of 44 migrants died from the thirst last week in the Sahara. The migrants from Ghana and Nigeria walked through the desert in Niger and were heading for the Mediterranean. They never arrived there. Only six people found a water source in time, knew the Red Cross on Thursday.

Two survivors then indicated the place where the bodies of seventeen women and six children lay. The truck they traveled through the desert would have gotten on the go. The passengers had to go further on foot.

Many migrants try to reach the Mediterranean Sea through the Sahara in Niger. According to the migration organization IOM, the 330,000 people took the tour last year.
