Mexico Objects to Google's Name Change

Mexico protests against Google renaming Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America, following US President Trump's order.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum sent a letter to Google urging them not to accept the renaming of the sea.

Google announced that for users in the US, Gulf of Mexico will soon be known as Gulf of America on Google Maps. Once the name is officially changed on US maps, users will see the new name.

For users in Mexico, Gulf of Mexico will remain unchanged. The rest of the world will see both names.
