Mental find greatest diamond

freetown - A Christian clergyman in Sierra Leone has found a club of a rough diamond. The stone weighs 706 carats and is one of the largest in the world. The exact value has yet to be determined but it is sure to several million euros. On the official website of the President is to see a picture of the remarkable find.

A local commander from the Kono region handed the diamond to President Ernest Bai Koroma on behalf of Emmanuel Momoh, who made the discovery. The government of the poor West African country is planning to auction the gem. Koroma thanked give the intermediary Thursday for his honesty by the diamond to the government rather than to smuggle abroad. The proceeds will now benefit the population.

Sierra Leone has a long history of civil war, funded by 'blood diamonds.' It came to an end in 2002.
