stockholm - A Swedish hospital has performed unnecessary hysterectomies on 33 women, leading to a medical scandal. The hospital has issued apologies for the grave mistake.

A Swedish hospital has come under scrutiny for performing unnecessary hysterectomies on 33 women. A statement from a physician acknowledged the grave error, stating that such a significant mistake should never have occurred, but unfortunately did. The hospital has issued apologies for the distress caused.

Following tests, the women were informed that precancerous cells were detected, leading to the recommendation for surgery. Subsequent reviews revealed inaccuracies in the initial diagnoses, rendering the operations unnecessary.

The errors came to light after an investigation was launched due to a notable increase in such cases. The affected women, aged between 38 and 85, are eligible for compensation.

The hospital expressed deep regret for the mistake, emphasizing the serious and irreversible consequences of hysterectomy.
