Mechelse gymnast teacher in trouble after 'smack on the poo'

'She did not want to come to lessons anymore', says director Rob Van der Beek to Het Laatste Nieuws. He also understands that reaction. 'For the time being she no longer has to go. But it is intended that the folds are smoothed out. I have also explained to her that the teacher has not committed any offenses such as rape. '

That last remark was bad for the pupil and for other pupils in the class. Consequence: no pupil wanted to attend the physical education classes. 'I never wanted to minimize the facts,' the director responds. 'I should not have used the example of the rape. '

The gymnast has been working at the Mechelen school for years. According to the director, there were never any complaints about the man. 'He did a blank course here,' says Van der Beek. He therefore did not think it necessary to suspend the man. 'He immediately apologized and admitted that he was wrong. 'Most students have now accepted the excuses and are going back to class. Four girls refuse that for the time being. Together with a pedagogical deputy they will talk about their concerns.
