May regrets her reaction to Grenfell fire

london - Theresa May said that she regretted her first reaction to the fire in the Grenfell tower almost a year ago. The British Prime Minister admitted in the Evening Standard newspaper that her actions after the disaster, which cost the lives of 71 people, wrongly gave the impression that she did not do so much.

On the night of June 14, 2017, the 24-storey flat, with an ethnically diverse group of residents, went up in flames in the affluent London district of Kensington. It was the deadliest blaze in Britain since the Second World War.

A day after the drama, May paid a short visit to the scene of the disaster. She thanked the firefighters for their efforts and she briefly followed up with the team responsible for the settlement. The prime minister left after the survivors a heart to stabbing and the relatives of victims to comfort. This led to a wave of questions about social inequality and treatment of immigrants.

'It was already clear that the initial reaction was not good enough. I am also counting on that myself ', May wrote in a column on Monday. 'I will always be sorry that I did not visit the people that day. '
