paris - Mathias Pogba, the elder brother of Paul Pogba, appeared in court today in Paris for his involvement in the kidnapping and extortion case of his younger brother.

Today, Mathias Pogba was heard in the trial regarding the kidnapping and extortion of his brother, Paul Pogba. The trial, which began on November 26, is taking longer than expected as the presiding judge took extra time to analyze the entire case file and question the six suspects.

In March 2022, Paul Pogba was held captive for hours in a flat in Montévrain, east of Paris. Two armed men demanded a payment of 13 million euros, of which 3 million in cash. Two childhood friends of the footballer are said to have been involved in the kidnapping and extortion of Paul Pogba. His older brother, Mathias Pogba, is also a suspect. He faces a maximum prison sentence of five years for attempted extortion and criminal conspiracy.

This afternoon, 34-year-old Mathias Pogba appeared in the Paris courtroom. He is well-known among Dutch football fans as a cult hero of Sparta football club. Dressed in a dark suit and moccasins, the Sparta cult hero took his place in the courtroom. During questioning, he maintained that he was 'not aware' of his brother's kidnapping. The kidnapping took place during preparations for the Golden Score event organized by Mathias Pogba in a luxury hotel in Paris.

Further details of the case will be revealed in the upcoming days as the trial progresses.
