kinshasa - About fifty prisoners escaped from the main prison of the Congolese capital, Kinshasa, on Wednesday. The outbreak was made possible by an attack by prisoners of captive Ne Muanda Nsemi. Muanda Nsemi is the leader of a kind of sect from the west of the country and leader of a political party that emerges from the sect, Bundu-dia-Mayala. He is among the escaped prisoners.

Muanda Nsemi was arrested in March after a series of violent clashes between his followers and security forces, a government spokesman said on Wednesday.
