rome - Hundreds of thousands of Italians have demonstrated Tuesday against the Mafia. Across the country people took to the streets to commemorate the innocent victims of organized crime. Especially the march through the city Locri in the Calabria region, where the notorious' Ndrangheta has a strong presence, received much attention. Some 25,000 people were there along in a protest march.

The demonstrators marched with flags, banners and photographs of victims through the streets. President Sergio Mattarella was a day before visiting Locri. He said among other things that mafiosi ' have no honor, '' quoting ANSA news agency.

A local priest and mafia-critic who had received the threat over graffiti on a church that he is not an agent should behave, retired little of this and said: ' Today we are all agents in Locri. We commemorate the many members of the security forces who have lost their lives. ''
