washington - The Mars trolley Opportunity can not do any research for the time being because there is a huge dust storm on the red planet. In an area that is larger than North America, the sun is currently being darkened. Space Agency NASA decided to park the vehicle, which sent a signal to earth last Sunday, because the batteries are no longer being charged.
In 2007 Opportunity survived an even bigger storm. The cold that accompanied it, according to NASA supposedly meant the end of twin brother Spirit, who at the same time rode around on Mars. The scientists are hopeful that the still working cart will get going again when the wind is going down. The thing has been active on Mars for fifteen years, while the mission was originally planned for 90 days.
