washington - Paul Manafort, former campaign leader of US President Donald Trump, is not released on bail. A judge decided Monday that his house arrest and that of his business partner Richard Gates should be maintained.
Manafort offered a $ 12 million (10.3 million) deposit in return last weekend, in exchange for more freedom of movement. The judge did not agree because of the uncertainty about the origin of the deposit. Some of the 12 million would consist of securities that would be named by Manafort's wife. The judge called that fact, 'very problematic'.
In the investigation that special prosecutor Robert Mueller does after Russian interference in the campaign, Manafort and business partner Rick Gates are the first to be summoned. The duo is stuck on suspicion of fraud with tax, false testimony and money laundering.
