Man six days with dentures in throat

- An elderly Frenchman who had swallowed his dentures six days with his prosthesis walked in his throat because his doctors did not believe him and his family.

'Our father could not say any more, so they thought he was crazy,' said the son of the 85-year-old Roland Marissael against local newspaper La Voix du Nord. Only after he was operated on six days and now he is in critical condition in hospital.

Roland's torment began on Sunday, August 14th when his teeth swallowed accidentally by a lunch with friends. In the local hospital emergency physician determines that the man has just verlsikt and he is sent home.

The elderly man continues to suffer from his breath and his wife noted that the man's dentures disappeared. Then the man brought to the hospital in Dunkirk. 'We told the doctors immediately that he had swallowed his teeth and continued to repeat every day, but they did not take us seriously,' said the son.

The family asked for a scan of the throat of Roland, but the doctors stick to a scan of his lungs, which of course was nothing strange to see. Meanwhile, the old man goes ever further backwards. 'He always touched his throat. At one point it was so bad that when we touched his throat, he recoiled at once, 'said his stepdaughter Chantal in tears at the newspaper. Pas Friday as doctors unsuccessfully attempt to place a feeding tube, creates a scan of his throat. The denture appears stuck in the vocal chords of the man.

With surgery, the prosthesis is removed, but that does not mean the end of the story. Roland is still in intensive care.

The hospital has opened an investigation into the case. The man's family has filed a complaint against the doctors.
