brussels, belgium - A man convicted by the Brussels criminal court on Thursday afternoon escapes right after the verdict.

Escape from Brussels Courtroom

Following a conviction by the Brussels criminal court, a man fled the scene, leading to a search operation within the Brussels courthouse, as reported by Belgian news site Sudinfo. The Brussels public prosecutor's office confirms the man's escape and active pursuit.

The man was one of the suspects in a case involving human trafficking, exploitation, and prostitution. He was sentenced to three years in prison on Thursday afternoon. The Public Prosecutor's Office immediately requested his arrest; however, for reasons unknown, there was no police presence in the courtroom to apprehend him, allowing him to escape.
