- Manchester City's Manuel Akanji is nearing a move to Inter Milan in a loan deal with a permanent transfer option. The 30-year-old defender opts for Inter amid interest from various clubs.

Manchester City's Manuel Akanji Nearing Inter Milan Move

Manchester City and Inter Milan are on the verge of finalizing a deal for defender Manuel Akanji, sources confirm. The Serie A club has secured Akanji on an initial loan basis with the opportunity to make the transfer permanent next year.

Competition for Akanji

Akanji, with two years left on his City contract, attracted interest from Tottenham, Crystal Palace, Galatasaray, Bayer Leverkusen, and AC Milan. However, the Swiss international has opted for Inter Milan over other suitors.

A key figure in Pep Guardiola's squad, Akanji has made 136 appearances since joining City in 2022. Despite his contributions, he has not featured this season and was excluded from recent matches.

Kalvin Phillips' Future

On the other hand, midfielder Kalvin Phillips, recovering from Achilles surgery, is likely to stay at City beyond the transfer window. The player, with loan stints at West Ham and Ipswich, may have to wait until January for a potential move.

Phillips, with three years remaining on his City contract, is expected to continue with the club post-surgery.
