melbourne - A man in Melbourne had a comedic turn of events when he accidentally set himself on fire while trying to arson a fast food restaurant, instead of the intended target.

A man in the Australian city of Melbourne was planning to set fire to a fast food restaurant but things didn't go as expected. He accidentally set himself on fire. The police are diligently searching for the clumsy criminal and his accomplices.

On December 25th, the police in Melbourne received a report of two individuals suspected of pouring flammable liquid over a fast food restaurant with the intention of setting it on fire. Surveillance footage in the area shows that the criminals soon got a taste of their own medicine. 'The liquid ignited, but so did the clothing of one of the perpetrators,' the police reported on Facebook.

The man quickly removed his burning clothing and ran away. The other person picked up the jerry can and also fled the scene. The pair was reportedly picked up by a driver in a Toyota Tarag. 'The vehicle was last seen near Doncaster Road,' the police stated. The culprits have not been found yet, and the police are urging witnesses to come forward. The motive and condition of the arsonist are still unknown.

Reactions to the police report showed little sympathy for the perpetrators. 'If you play stupid games, you win stupid prizes,' wrote one person. 'It feels bad that I have to laugh, but this seems more like something from a comedy than a crime scene,' another commented.
