united states - According to U.S. media reports, CNN and NBC, two major media companies, are getting ready to lay off employees as Trump takes office.

CNN to Lay Off Hundreds of Employees

Following President Trump's inauguration, leading television channels CNN and NBC are reportedly planning to lay off a large number of employees. It is rumored that CNN, owned by Warner Bros. Discovery, will reduce production costs by letting go of hundreds of employees as they shift focus to digital media products.

CNN's CEO Mark Thompson mentioned receiving over $70 million investment from Warner Bros. Discovery to fund digital activities, expected to be used for areas such as data science and product development. The channel, with approximately 3,500 employees, had launched a digital subscription service in October 2024.

NBC News to Cut around 50 Jobs

Similarly, NBC News is said to be planning to lay off around 50 employees this week, although the exact number is undisclosed. Both NBC News and CNN have not commented on these reported layoffs, but the timing right after Trump's inauguration is noteworthy.
