bamako - French President Emmanuel Macron said on Sunday that within a few weeks a West African peacekeeping force would be operational. This army must fight in the Sahel region with Islamic militants, smugglers and other criminals.
Macron attended a regional summit in Mali this weekend. He spoke with the heads of state of Mali, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, Chad and Niger. The newly formed multinational power must assist the missions of France and the United Nations already present.
