M5S party suggests tolerance Berlusconi

rome - The leader of the Italian Five Star Movement (M5S) sees opportunities to form a government with the right-wing populist Lega. M5S leader Luigi Di Maio reiterated, however, that he did not want to enter into a covenant with the political partners of the Lega, including the party Forza Italia of former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi.

Di Maio said after consultation with the President of the Senate that he does not want to talk about ministerial posts with the Berlusconi party. The M5S politician suggested that Forza Italia could support a new government from parliament. That party later said that it did not feel anything for it and in a statement called it 'immature' to try to divide the partnership of right-wing parties.

The country still has no prospect of a majority government. The election of 4 March did not produce a clear winner. The Five Star Movement and the Lega have in principle enough seats to rule together. Lega leader Matteo Salvini has so far refused to lose his ally Berlusconi.
