A luxurious hotel in Senegal, which can also be booked through TUI, was robbed by a group of twenty armed robbers. The robbers, armed with machetes and guns, stormed into the five-star resort. During the robbery, gunshots were fired, as reported by an English tourist on Facebook.
The robbers targeted the hotel safe, stealing an estimated 18,000 euros. They also took 'valuable items' on their way out. Despite the swift arrival of the police, the gang managed to escape.
The Riu Boabab hotel, owned by a Spanish group and accommodating up to 800 tourists, was opened just a few years ago. TUI customers rate Boabab an 8.8, praising the location and service but noting potential safety concerns, according to Marijke's review on TUI's website.
